Master Gardeners Meeting

Call to Order

Meeting was called to order by Al Winkeler.

Secretary’s Report- Minutes from last meeting are available on line and copies available at meeting.  Mary Carey made a motion that we approve minutes as read, was seconded by Pam Yankey.  Vote was unanimous in favor

Treasurer’s Report- Joe Walker states we currently have a bank balance of (see treasurer for amount).

MU Extension Report- Rich Hoormann- Was not present for meeting.

Committee Reports

• Meetings- Val Mertz – Not present. Speakers are set up for the year.

• Membership- Waneta Parmenter – Not present. Al Winkeler present badges to Claudia Maloney.

• Hortline- Patti Kolek –We have been busy on Hortline. Please sign up for June. Will be doing 2 weekends a month at St. Charles Farmers Market. If interested contact Patti.

• Education- Mary Medina- Big thank you to everyone who helped with plant sale. Over 7300 plants and we made about $15000.00. Mary is stepping down and Marsha Brown is stepping in as coordinator for plant sale.  Also if you have any ideas for demonstrations at Farmers Market let Mary know.

• Demonstration Gardens- Mary Carey. Was not present for business part of meeting.

• Greenhouse- Evelyn Franks –Not present. Evelyn will be stepping down from managing greenhouse. Anyone interested please contact Marsha Brown.

New Business

• Patti Kolek was presented with the Honor Roll Award from the Extension at their annual dinner for her long term commitment to the extension program and her leadership with Master Gardeners and the extension itself. Well-earned and congratulations.

• We will be having at the June meeting a Wacko MG Garden Completion.  Please wear you’re most interesting or outrageous gardening attire. Appointed judges will give special prizes for top three winners. Note June meeting is at the extension.

 

Old Business

• Craig Morton will be getting group together to take down donated Pergola. Want to help contact Craig Morton. Garden leads will need to decide on where to put pergola.

• First St. Charles Farmers Market will June 3. Mary Carey, Paula Stone, and Judy Moran will be at the table giving away information and business cards. Will also do demonstration on soil testing.

• History Day at First Capital in on June 13, 2017. Terri Scheer is handling.

• Three of Master Gardeners belong to the O’Fallon Garden Club and are inviting members to a Standard Flower Show at Immanuel Lutheran Church 632 East Highway N, Wentzville, MO 63385. The event in June 7 and 8, 2017. 8am to 9pm.
