Master Gardeners Meeting
July 27, 2017
Meeting was called to order by Joe Walker at 6:59pm.
Secretary’s Report- Minutes from last meeting are available on line. Mary Carey made a motion that we approve minutes as read, was seconded by Tom Nagle. Vote was unanimous in favor
Treasurer’s Report- Joe Walker states we currently have a bank balance of $14113.37. Mary Medina made a motion that we approve treasurer’s report, was seconded by Laura Steimel. Vote was unanimous in favor.
MU Extension Report- Rich Hoormann- Was not present for meeting.
Committee Reports

- Waneta Parmenter –Several members from the MG Class of 2016 and 2017 were awarded the Master Gardener Badges and Certificates. Congratulations.

Hortline- Patti Kolek –We have been busy on Hortline. Thank everyone for signing up. Farmers Market in St. Charles is small but we are talking to everyone we can.

Education- Mary Medina- Looking for ideas for MG Class of 2018 project. If you have suggestion contact Mary or any member of steering committee.
Monarch Madness to be held in Weldon Springs on September 9, 2017. Mary Medina has signup sheet. There are wanting milkweed seeds. More on this Monday email.
Dig In will be at St. Charles Community College. Will be for entire day with lunch provided. Will be on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Will have key note speaker and more. Mary is looking for volunteers and ideas for classes. More to come on this.

Demonstration Gardens- Victoria Galley/Laura Steimel. Garden Lead meeting will be on August 12, 2017. Will need to vote for overall leads. All are welcome, it is Room C. We need volunteers to take over gardens. Also ideas on where to put pergola that was donated. Someone suggested to put in several areas around garden to make walking garden more appealing. Mary Carey advised our garden was going to used photo shoot for magazine cover for National Garden Clubs.

Greenhouse- Amy Templer/ Cindy Platzer. Not present at meeting.
New Business

Del Moeller got up and thank everyone for their help in the pantry garden. Del discussed the benefits of cover crop on your garden. He also gave away cover crop seed to members. Some might be bringing half bags back in to office. Will be available by Hortline Desk.

Therapeutic Horsemanship are having problem with plants in there circular driveway. They are located in Wentzville and would appreciate if anyone would come look at and advice.

Issue has come up with Master Gardens walking though Room C when rented out. Please use other door for bathroom and or go to gas station is someone has rented both rooms. We are not talking about 4-H groups or extension groups. Private rentals.
Old Business
-
We will need an overall Facilitator for MG Class of 2018. We will also have sign for Master Gardeners to help with class.

Cindy Richardson still looking for volunteers to help with Boy Scout Merit badges.

Joe brought up that we were assisting in Boys and Girls Club Summer gardening program. Note that the kids were asking if Del was coming back. He did a great job. All volunteers were appreciated by club. There is only one more class for this summer.
