Farmers Markets

 

Currently Master Gardener volunteers participate at two Farmers Markets each month, May through September.  The first Saturday of the month we are at the New Melle Farmers Market, 3560 Mill St, New Melle, MO from 8 to 12.  On the third Saturday of the month, we are at the St Charles Riverside Farmers Market at the Foundry Arts Center, off of Main Street, from 7:30-12.

 

One purpose is to provide information on the Master Gardener program and on the many programs offered by the St Charles County Extension.  Activities to engage the public in seasonal gardening activities is stressed.

 

Another purpose is to provide research-based information.  There is literature on many different topics to hand out:  insect problems, vegetable growing, lawn care, and other topical information of the season. We also have a children's activity to engage the whole family.  We also answer questions that the public may have and offer to get back with them if we don’t have an immediate answer.  Those questions are referred to the Hortline volunteers who research the answers and get back to them in a timely manner.​​​​​​
